Local ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Account information: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. You may also use the app anonymously.
Location data: We use your device location to show nearby place recommendations. Location is sent to our server only when you request recommendations and is not stored long-term.
Preferences: Your taste preferences, dietary requirements, and saved places are stored in your user profile.
Usage data: We collect anonymised analytics (e.g. which categories are popular) to improve the app.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide personalised place recommendations based on your location and preferences.
To save your lists and profile across devices.
To improve the app experience through aggregated, anonymised analytics.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Supabase: Provides authentication and secure cloud storage for user profiles and data. Data is hosted in the EU (eu-north-1).
Apple Intelligence: AI-generated insights run entirely on your device. No personal data is sent to Apple for this feature.
OpenStreetMap: Place data is sourced from OpenStreetMap. No personal data is shared with OSM.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen, which permanently removes all associated personal data from our servers.

5. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth with secure token management.

6. Children's Privacy

Local is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or on this page.
